“Better” starts with nutritionally adequate. What matters is that the diet is complete and balanced for your dog’s life stage and fed consistently.
Our meals are made with real, whole ingredients and can be used as a full meal or as a topper.
Some recipes may include added supplementation to support balanced nutrition, but we recommend rotating meals or consulting your veterinarian for long-term feeding guidance.
Go gradual. Mix Skilo’s Cuzina into the current food and increase the fresh portion every 2–3 days. Sensitive stomach? Slow it down.
““Complete” means the food contains all required nutrients; “balanced” means those nutrients are in the correct ratios—especially crucial for minerals like calcium and phosphorus.
No. Your meals arrive ready to feed. The Balance It Canine (https://balance.it/about)amount is already accounted for in the recipe formulation.
It’s a veterinary-formulated vitamin/mineral supplement used to fortify fresh recipes so the final meal can meet nutrient targets—because meat + rice + veggies alone often won’t.
Please don’t. Small changes can significantly alter nutrition and throw the recipe off-balance. If you want a customization, contact us and we’ll guide the swap safely.
Start with our Meal Calculator (it uses your dog’s weight + activity to estimate daily calories to maintain current weight), then adjust every 7–10 days based on body condition and stool quality.
Reduce the daily amount by ~10% and recheck in 7–10 days. Treats count—keep treats under 10–15% of daily calories.
Contact us first. Their nutrient needs are different, and the wrong calcium/mineral balance can lead to serious problems.
We will provide a custom recipe based upon your specific (ie: breed, weight, age, etc) needs. No costs.
Frozen for peak freshness. Either way, keep the meals cold and follow the storage label.
Refrigerate at 40°F (4°C) or below and use within [90] days. Keep frozen at 0°F (-18°C) or below for best quality up to [3] months.
Thaw in the refrigerator (best).
If you quick-thaw, do it safely (cold water or microwave) and use immediately.
If meals still contain ice crystals or are 40°F or below, they can be refrozen (quality may drop).
If they were above 40°F for more than 2 hours, discard.
Contact us immediately to receive a replacement.
We recommend serving thawed (fridge temp → room temp). If you need to take the chill off, use a gentle method that does not “cook” the meal.
You’re paying for fresh ingredients, batch production, cold-chain handling, and formulation discipline.
If budget is the issue, we can build a “fresh topper” plan that still makes a difference.
Fair. Many problems with home-prepared diets come from missing nutrients or changing recipes. We address that by formulating recipes to meet AAFCO nutrient profiles and by providing clear feeding directions and consistency.
Yes. We can share the recipe’s formulation intent (life stage), ingredient list, and feeding directions, plus the role of Balance It Canine in meeting nutrient targets.

Freezing locks in freshness without preservatives.
Unlike refrigerated “fresh” food that slowly degrades, freezing keeps nutrients and quality intact until you’re ready to serve.
